Modern Beat Orchestra

Modern Beat Orchestra - Asheville & Raleigh, NC - Miami, FL (USA)
The Modern Beat Orchestra consists of visionary producer and composer David Edward Jensen, remixer and arranger Owen Sawyer, vocalist and lyricist Jennifer Anne Simons, photographer/animator Travis Barker, and digital video artist Bryan Matthew Warren. The MBO fuses elements of progressive house, electronica, minimal, and trance, into a unique blend of melodic yet driving electronic dance music.

A deep understanding of musicality, technology, physiology, and human emotion allow their music to create a complete emersion in sound and self. Extensive training in jazz studies and classical composition, along with a true passion for electronic music, allows the MBO to propel forward in dance music. The Musical influences range from Duke Ellington, Peter Gabriel and Sarah McLachlan to Ulrich Schnauss, Way Out West and the Chemical Brothers.

David Edward Jensen (Modern Beat Digital) started his venture into the dance music scene in 2001. Three months after learning to spin records, he performed opposite Simply Jeff at Orbit Nightclub in Delray Beach, FL. Since then he's shared the stage with D:Fuse, Infinity, Jackal N' Hyde, ak1200, J-Break, Ming & FS, and more. Electro pioneer Dave "Scratch-D" Noller, of Dynamix II, and Sean "H-Bomb" Herman quickly noticed his talent and took Jensen under their wing for a residency at Club Chill in West Palm Beach, allowing him the exposure needed to craft his skills and begin producing.

Jennifer Anne Simons (Modern Beat Digital) is a singer-songwriter from south Florida and lead vocalist in The Modern Beat Orchestra. Her sultry sound and soulful styling decorate dance music in such a way that it leaves the listener wanting more. At times simply stated, and always enchanting, She performs all featured vocal parts, utilizing her sheer talent, unstoppable range, and clear tone.

Owen Sawyer (Modern Beat Digital) always knew music would be a big part of his life. As a boy, classical and modern music were an influential part of his life. Throughout his entire educational experience, playing the saxophone was his main creative outlet. Being a part of symphonic and jazz bands was a high point early in life and a building block for later. After moving to Orlando for college, he quickly introduced the use of synthesizers, drum machines, and turntables to his existing arsenal of more traditional instruments, as he honed his talent, and love of all things electronic.

Travis Barker (Orbiting Studio) asks - have you ever heard of Folk Animator? New tech mixed with timeless standard, The Chaa wants everything that is motion. Animating graphics and engineering visual space with new media and old media. Merging the detail of still frames with the fluidity of video, Barker brings a different dimension to the entire experience. His real-time crowd images and animations enthrall crowds as they see their Modern Beat experience as it happens.

Bryan Matthew Warren (Sheep Meets Wolf) is a digital video artist focused on visualizing abstract ideas. Video creates a visceral and concrete connection between the human senses by merging multiple stimuli into a single cohesive experience. By creating a representation of his own mental imagery, he hopes to act as a springboard for others to share a similar experience and become aware of how they process media stimuli.

The Modern Beat Orchestra's live set combines the excitement of a live band with the non-stop intensity of a DJ set, by combining live vocals, visuals and multiple sequencers and samplers, for the ultimate experience in non-stop club entertainment.
